Description

1. Microcontroller (Arduino Uno / Arduino Mega)

• The microcontroller acts as the brain of the robot. It controls the motors, reads sensor data, and makes decisions based on the input. Common choices for Sumo robots are the Arduino Uno and Arduino Mega, both offering good performance and ease of programming.

2. Motor Driver (L298N / L298D / H-Bridge)

• The motor driver controls the motors by providing them with the necessary current to turn in the required direction. The L298N, L298D, and H-Bridge are widely used motor drivers, allowing for forward and reverse movement of the robot.
  

  3.Motors (High Torque DC Motors)

  • DC motors provide the necessary movement for the robot. In a Sumo robot, high-torque DC motors are essential for pushing opponents out of the ring, especially during collisions. These motors are selected for their strength and reliability.

  7. Wheels/Tires (Rubber Wheels)

  • Rubber wheels are used for their excellent traction and grip on various surfaces, ensuring that the robot has the necessary traction to push against opponents and avoid slipping in the Sumo arena.

  8. Battery (LiPo or Li-ion)

  • The battery powers all components of the robot. LiPo (Lithium-Polymer) and Li-ion (Lithium-Ion) batteries are commonly used, providing a good balance of capacity and weight. Typically, a 7.4V or 11.1V battery is used to ensure sufficient power for extended operation.

  9. Bluetooth Module (HC-05 / HC-06)

  • The Bluetooth module allows for wireless communication between the robot and external devices like a smartphone or computer. The HC-05 or HC-06 Bluetooth modules are popular for controlling the robot remotely and for diagnostics during setup.

  10. Chassis Material (Metal)

  • The chassis is the robot’s frame that holds all the components together. Metal chassis is preferred for its strength and durability, especially since Sumo robots experience collisions and impacts during battles. Metal can withstand the stress of being pushed around in the arena.
