Description
Introduction to Dual Axis Solar Tracker
The Dual Axis Solar Tracker is an automated project designed to keep a solar panel aligned with sunlight throughout the day. It combines LDR sensors, Arduino Uno R3, servo motors, a mini solar panel, and a mounting frame to adjust the panel horizontally and vertically. Moreover, the Dual Axis Solar Tracker demonstrates how solar panels can automatically follow changing sunlight. In addition, automatic positioning reduces the need for manual adjustment. Furthermore, this project provides practical knowledge of solar energy, Arduino programming, LDR sensors, servo motor control, and embedded systems. Therefore, it is suitable for schools, colleges, workshops, renewable energy demonstrations, and final-year projects.
How the Dual Axis Solar Tracker Works
The system uses four LDR sensors to detect differences in light intensity from different directions. First, the LDR sensors measure the available sunlight. Next, the Arduino Uno R3 compares the sensor readings to identify the direction with stronger light. Then, the two SG90 servo motors move the solar panel along horizontal and vertical axes. If the sunlight changes direction, the Arduino sends new control signals to reposition the panel. As a result, the Dual Axis Solar Tracker maintains better alignment with the available sunlight.Meanwhile, the tracking mechanism continuously responds to changes in light intensity. Additionally, the system can be expanded with compatible displays, battery monitoring, data logging, or wireless modules. Thus, it provides a practical platform for exploring automated solar tracking and renewable energy technology.
